The Samantha Koenig disappearance is entering day seven, and it appears that the police in Anchorage aren't really displaying the brightest investigative skills. In fact, it appears that they're disregarding tips being called in regarding this missing girl, because they are coming from self-proclaimed psychics.
Lt. Dave Parker of the Anchorage Police had the following to say about the onslaught of psychic leads in the Samantha Koenig case:
So does that mean they're not acting on any of the tips called in by those claiming to be psychic? If so, that's rather reckless. A credible tip is a tip, nonetheless, regardless of whether it comes from a housewife, another detective, or someone who believes they are connected with the cosmos (or what-have-you). What if, by some strange chance, one of these psychics is just using the term "psychic" so as to cover up the true reason for having said information? What if they don't want to reveal something and simply use the term "psychic" to aid in that? Hey, it's a longshot, but it's certainly a probable scenario.
Also, simply because Anchorage Police have never had a successful psychic lead doesn't mean that they won't in the future. Some people claim to be psychic and clearly aren't, and there are still other psychic profilers who have certainly lent a hand in investigating cases.
So, while Samantha Koenig remains missing, the Anchorage Police have refused to share surveillance footage showing the suspect, and they are appearing to disregard psychic leads. The word "appearing" is being used here because it truly isn't known whether they're at least investigating the leads or not, but it would be nice to have some clarity from these so-called investigators. An 18-year-old woman is missing, allegedly abducted, and this whole investigation feels like they're just taking their sweet time.
