It is National Margarita Day 2012, which is a bit unfortunate for those in the U.S. who just celebrated Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday because today is Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent.
While some in the U.S. will not be "wasting away in MargaritaVille" today, there are plenty who will take this hump day as a chance to enjoy the tasty tequila drink, which is mixed with 50 percent tequila, 29 percent Cointreau or Triple Sec, and then 21 percent fresh lime or lemon juice. What could be more refreshing after the first half of the week? No doubt plenty of people will enjoy National Margarita Day 2012.
The origin of the flavorful beverage is somewhat contentious, but the fact is, it was invented, and now it is here for people to enjoy. Do you have plans to imbibe in a delicious margarita today in honor of this national day celebrating the drink? If so, what is your favorite way to enjoy the drink? Where is your favorite place to get one?
In celebration of the drink and the day, check out Jimmy Buffet's MargaritaVille in the video below.
