Ahliyah Irvin was reported missing by her parents in Topeka, Kansas, in the middle of Monday night/early Tuesday morning. Within the hour, the 8-year-old child was discovered in the very same apartment complex. She had been raped and murdered, and a man is already in custody connected to this horrific and unforgivable act of cruelty.
When the 8-year-old Topeka girl was discovered early this morning, a reported 50 officers crawled the area--that is not being released to the media at this point. They quickly happened on a 28-year-old unnamed male who was arrested in connection to several charges related to the rape and murder of Ahliyah Irvin.
Hopefully more details are released eventually, such as how this 28-year-old man knew the girl and her family. Was he a friend or family member or another tenant of the apartment complex? How did the man end up with the 8-year-old girl in his possession in the early morning hours to commit such a vile act?
Several months ago a young girl by the name of Aliahna Lemmon was murdered by a family friend, Michael Plumadore. Although the only similarities these two cases share are the ages and genders of the child victims, could more details reveal that the perp responsible was someone trusted by the family? Otherwise, could this have been a predatory event involving breaking into the home?
