A mom did what only a panicked mom can do when she saved her daughter from a shark attack in Florida. Valeh Levy was surfing with her 15-year-old daughter Sydney at New Smyrna Beach. A shark had attacked earlier in the afternoon, and the unthinkable happened again.
During the shark attack, the fish pulled Sydney under the water two times, which had to be terrifying for Valeh. The mom fought off the shark, and she pulled the teen onto her board.
The incredibly brave mom said, "It was to me like a scene out of 'Jaws,' where the girl's getting sucked under, and I said, 'There's no way this thing is going to kill my daughter,' and I grabbed her shoulders and I pulled her up and I threw her on the nose of my board."
What an amazing story of bravery and action. Thank goodness this mother acted quickly and saved her daughter from a horrible fate of the shark attack. The girl had surgery, and she is recovering from her wounds. This could have ended tragically. Instead, Valeh took quick action and made sure her daughter was safe.

I say this because, a teenage boy who had also been surfing had suffered a large gash in his leg from a shark attack only minutes before the daughter was attacked and just yards from where the mother and daughter were surfing.
More to the point of the mothers stupidity, the boy was actually receiving emergency medical attention on the beach at the time that the daughter was attacked and almost had her foot bitten off at the ankle. Yet, the mother did not do the adult parent thing and get herself and her daughter out of the water once the teenage boy had been attacked. Instead, she allowed her daughter to continue surfing and as a direct result of her mindless idiocy, her daughter was attacked and suffered serious injuries requiring emergency surgery to save the girls foot.
Hero, I think not, Idiot, most assurredly. Lack of adult parentage, absolutely.
In my opinion, the mother should have been legally charged by the police department with child neglect and endangerment resulting in a life threatening injury to a child under her care.
People do get hurt at the beach and unless she was looking in that area, she would have had no idea what the emergency was.
