A love letter was finally delivered after 60 years. In the missive, Dick Hauck actually proposed marriage to Arlene. Thankfully, even though the letter was never delivered, the two did end up getting married.
Dick sent the love letter when he served in the U.S. Army. The two exchanged letters nearly daily, but this one was lost for six decades. How did the letter get to Arlene? Contractors working on the house Arlene lived in as a child found the letter, and they forwarded it to her.
The official proposal letter said, "I got your ring today, I sure hope you will like it. I wish I could have gotten it long ago darling." Even though she never received the proposal, a few weeks later Dick came home, and proposed with the ring. The couple married, and remain married today. Isn't that amazing?
Even though they obviously lived happily ever after, it is beautiful that this couple got the chance to relive this time in their life with this unread love letter after all these years. What a sweet story.
