George Zimmerman Said to Be in Custody; Is Justice on Its Way?

I feel second degree murder is the right charge, but with the "Stand Your Ground" Law, Zimmerman might go free. That law, like so many others in this country, needs to be changed.

While I have read about the "Stand Your Ground" law, I am by no means a legal scholar, but it seems to mean thsat if one feels threatened, one has the right to protect oneself.

This case is an example of why the law needs to be changed.

People go to court to get Justice. What they get is law, and the two items are often not the same thing.

i think murder 2 is okay. manslaughter would be too soft- because Zimmerman obviously intended to pull the trigger and never claimed otherwise. but murder 1 is probably too harsh, it would be assuming alot to think that Zimmerman intended murder from the beginning.

i think we may see the temperature go down now. for my part, I do not demand a conviction. But I said from the first that this HAD to go to trial, and I am glad that the justice system has now gotten off its butt and gone to work.

I think this is the result of "blood lust." Basically because of the actions of "Al Shaprton's People," this poor guy will be charged more often than a NiMH battery until they can get a guilty verdict to stick. Still, I hope he walks. Free George Zimmerman. He should have tried leaving the country, if he is given jail time, I would fear that some "brotha" would get revenge on the poor guy.

He will be tried by a jury of his peers. Let the process take place. If he is innocent he will walk free. If he is guilty he will be held accountable for his actions.

I hope so, but it seems like it is a tall order because of the rhetoric from Sharpton, the Black "Pampers," et al. Simply put, an older family member of mine said the furor is "because the kid was colored" to use an exact quote. There are incidences, plenty of Black on White crime that do not get reported but are much more heinous. I'd post them but I got to go to work, millions on welfare depend on my labor.

I go to work too, and I am glad I have a job.

Not necessarily, many a jury has acquitted a person they thought guilty, but proof wasn't proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Well, I happen to be white, and I agree 100% with the charge brought by Special Prosecutor Angela Corey, who also happens to be white.

I was willing to let the process go on with OJ, I really had no dog in the fight except justice. Then, like now, I was concerned at the actions of the race hustlers and pimps.

I expect we will be hearing complaints from George Zimmerman's fan club long after he's been rightly convicted of murder and locked up for the rest of his miserable life. I'm waiting anxiously to hear what new rhetoric his fans will come up with after his trial. I was growing so bored of "wait for all the facts to come out." Guess what? All the facts were out a long time ago, and there were still people so desperate to defend Zimmerman that they latched onto insignificant facts and outright lies about Trayvon Martin as reasons that he deserved to die. Despite all the endless lies and desperate mental gymnastics from his supporters Zimmerman has finally been charged with murder in the second degree and is set to face trial.

My, I thought you libs were full of love and believe n rehabilitation of the criminal. Now because a "protected class" was involved, all of a sudden all of yuns become Richard Nixon law and order types. To be blunt, I discussed this with a mechanic friend of mine, he put it simply that to the Left, White on Black crime, a problem. Black on Black crime, no problem. I often said that these self haters are so far gone, not even God can help them. I don't doubt His powers at all, but ever since Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge, we have been given free will by Him along with the problems thereof. If you got down to what we actually believe instead of your misconceptions of my beliefs you might very well find we're not all that different. I believe a big part of the reason many people don't get along is that they have false ideas of what the other believes based on lies and fear mongering.

Matt, You seem sure he will br convicted as charged. There is an element of a depraved mind they have to prove. The only way I know of to approach that is by citing his other calls to 911. It will be nearly impossible to prove what he was thinking, including whether he had fear of great bodily harm. I guess we will just see.

What they have to prove is what we already know, that he murdered an unarmed teenager.

you mean the 'fact' (later disproved) of the 911 call where he said '...up to no good he looks black' when there was conversation in between those words, and the dispatcher asked if he was white, hispanic or black? THAT fact? or the
'fact' that he said effin 'coon', later proven to be wrong? or the 'fact' that after ordered not to folow, he chased martin down, later proven he did follow the 'suggestion' to not follow, was back at his truck when martin confronted him? or maybe the FACT that george had no injuries, when it was later proven he had gashes on the back of his head, and injury to his nose?? THOSE FACTS??? or how about the 'fact' he was never arrested, when the tape clearly showed him, getting out of the back of a police car, in handcuffs and taken into the police station - which can not be doine unless he was under arrest??? that fact? or maybe the "fact" that he was hiding and the police didnt know where he was - even tho they DID know, and he voluntarily turned himself in - which if her were fully guilty, and the p[olice couldnt find him, he would nto have done - THOSE FACTS??????????????

What exactly is the purpose of bringing up an edited 911 call? The original unedited 911 call is damning enough, and the fact that cnn edited the tape does not make that any less true. I have no interest in arguing with people who will go to such great lengths to defend a murderer. What else you have to say in your little rant does not interest me. Good day.

Hm, let's see. Maybe the fact that George Zimmerman admitted to shooting him, claimed self defense, but his victim had no weapons of any kind on him unless you wish to claim that he planned on stoning Zimmerman to death with skittles.

he claims, and one witness collaborates, that he "chose" to be heading back to his truck, and martin was on top of him, slamming his head into the concrete.

I was talking about Zimmerman's choice to initiate the incident in the first place. Meaning that he didn't have to get out of his truck and go looking for Trayvon, which he did do, as it is a fact that he said in one of the 911 calls that he was following him. Honestly, I don't think he needed to call 911 in the first place. He should have just kept driving and two lives, among others (including the families of both Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman), would not have been ruined.

Agreed, Martin jumped Zimmerman and was beating on him. To me, that means his life was in danger and if I was in his shoes, I'd take the SOB down too and take my chances. Whatever happens, happens, if the next thing he sees is St. Peter well, what can I say. The story that I know and the facts that I know, I would judge in favor of Zimmerman.

as a member of the neighborhood watch,m where there had been a fair amount of crime, he saw an unkown person - that in his opinion seemingly was wandering around in the rain. so it was his duty, to see what was up.

and he was returning to his vehicle, reportedly, when martin atacked him - is that true? i dont know - and neither do you.

hence my point - presenting it all as absolute fact, is indeed a comment that is irresponsible, immature, and ignorant.

First of all, no one said I was an encyclopedia filled with facts. Also, this is a secondhand news site that features the story as well as writers' own opinions. You should know that.

As for your attempt at making me feel like I'm some sort of terrible person, I'm always very saddened when I see people with disabilities discriminated against. As well as anyone discriminated against because of any difference. It's very upsetting that we still live in a country where hate is present simply because everyone is not exactly the same.

Del, There are many comments on this thread that are equally judgmental. This is a very emotional issue. I am like you, and very mindful that there are 2 sides to every story. I have nevr believed GZ was a bigot, but many convicted him of that, too. When he wasn't arrested, I read up on the law, and found the law said they weren't supposed to arrest him unless his self defense claim did not stand up. The police said it appeared consistent at first, so he wasn't arrested. All screamed fixed, racism, Daddy made him get special treatment and all that. It is not popular to go against the press and the mobs. I know Del your comments are always thoughtful, and I'm sorry you were so poorly received for pointing out the things I see clearly that do not line up with the facts. We ALL have to see the rest of the evidence and whether, under law, GZ is guilty or not, and of what level if so. I agree those who brand him as a murderer at this time could be guilty of libel if he is acquitted. And don't worry about the typos. You will have to fight me over who has more!
