Missing Fort Bragg soldier Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux is still missing on the one week mark of her disappearance. The 23-year-old woman was last seen leaving Froggy Bottoms bar last Saturday with a sex offender by the name of Nicholas Holbert, who has turned himself in over an unrelated crime. Holbert was previously convicted around a decade ago of sexual acts with a child of five years old, which immediately makes him a suspicious character in this case but possibly to an unfair extent. However, the description of this man, his behavior and the details surrounding this case truly cast suspicion in his direction, and rightfully so.
It's being reported that Nicholas Holbert turned himself into police willingly because he had failed to register as a sex offender in the region he was inhabiting. It should be pointed out, however, that police had already interviewed him at least twice prior to this detail. Could it be possible that he was warned or made anxious about it in some way by detectives regarding the woman's disappearance? It just seems too convenient that the man is in custody while the search for Kelli Bordeaux continues.
Most recently dogs have been used in the search for the missing woman, but it's unknown as to whether or not they hit on any particular scent. Detectives do say that they have "grave concerns" for the woman, but aren't releasing details into any of the evidence, if any, that they've come upon in the search. Another interesting detail is that police will not confirm or deny whether or not Nicholas Holbert is a suspect in Kelli's disappearance.
The man is described as a "drifter" who lives behind the bar at which Kelli was last seen. So it's evident that he has ample opportunity to get to know patrons of Froggy Bottoms while living somewhat off the radar, unregistered as the convicted sex offender that he is.
How long as Holbert lived in the general area? Has he ever had a run-in with the law near Fort Bragg before? Are there any people in the area who know this guy personally? Any family members? It seems that by now at least one person would have come forward with some insight into who this character is.
