Police in the UK have re-opened the Madeleine McCann case. The little girl was abducted at age three when her parents were vacationing at a resort in Portugal, back in May of 2007.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, the London Metropolitan Police announced on April 25th that the little girl, now nine years old, could possibly be alive.
More than 30 officers have been assigned to the re-opened case. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood says 40,000 pieces of evidence will be reviewed by the new team, and 195 possible leads have been followed.
"We would like the case to be reopened; our case is clear," Redwood said in a recent interview told. "I should stress quite clearly that the decision is in Portugal."
Madeleine McCann's parents Kate and Gery McCann were long considered suspects by officials in Portugal, but were cleared after much public scrutiny. They have worked hard to keep their daughter's case alive in the public eye. The wrote a book about her disappearance and even appeared on Oprah Winfrey's talk show a couple of years back.

Not before time.
There was a Panorama special tonight on the BBC regarding the new investigation. It's a pity that the Portugese authorities have been so lacking in sympathy to the family. BUT, it was revealed that there was a Portugese task force, working in conjunction with the Scotland Yard enquiry, based in Porto... perhaps something may come from this joint initiative.
Even if the parents did have nothing to do with her disappearance, they still left a 3 yr old ALONE in a room.
