Steven Vigorito Jr., a NJ Police officer, is accused of sending sexually explicit photos of himself to a 12-year-old girl and tried to set up a meeting with her. Vigorito met the girl while helping the family. The officer gave the girl his cell phone and asked that she text him. Why is it that more and more people think they can get away with this type of crime? A man in his position should know better. The biggest question is, is this the first time he has done something like this before?
The girl's mother complained to the police department on Monday, stating that the officer made inappropriate comments. Woodlawn Park Police Chief Anthony Galietti contacted the prosecutor's office, and they began their investigation posing as the 12-year-old.
Over the course of the investigation, the texts became more explicit, including Vigorito in uniform while exposing himself. He asked for the girl to meet him for a sexual encounter. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes says the girl was never in harm's way and never exchanged any texts with Vigorito.
He was arrested Tuesday night while on duty. He pleaded not-guilty Wednesday and is being held on $250,000 bail. It is stated that Vigorito is a father of two children; how would he feel if someone had approached his daughter in this way?

On a tv show I saw a father bring his little boy with him when he was caught in a sting... were he went there thinking he was going to have sex with a pre teen. Sad, he would be doing that... and bring his child with him... clearly a mindset not protective of his own child. I bet he is no longer married.
