Phylicia Barnes, 16, had been missing from the Baltimore area since late December of 2010, but that disappearance turned into a homicide investigation when her body was discovered in April of 2011. During this time the high profile disappearance of Holly Bobo out of Darden, Tennessee crowded media headlines, taking attention away from this girl's sad case. Barnes had no history of running away or other problems, which made it even more difficult to find out what happened to her. There had even been rumors of a child sex trafficking ring involving the missing/slain teen.
It's been over a year since the discovery of her body, but now there has been arrest in the murder of 16-year-old Phylicia Barnes. Detectives only identified the man as Michael Johnson, releasing no other details pertaining to the case. Throughout all of the rumors surrounding this young woman's disappearance and murder, police have always maintained a tight seal on the actual information.
Hopefully this arrest brings some further closure to the family as the wheels of the U.S. justice system begin turning. Certainly whoever is responsible, whether it be this Michael Johnson character or someone else, will receive what they deserve.
