If the saying "patience is a virtue" is true, then Gary Palmer of Greenbrae, California, is a very virtuous guy. Have you ever waited in line at the bank or the supermarket and finally had enough? Did you give up and leave your place in line, or did you wait it out? Luckily, Palmer was very patient as he waited in a long line at the gas station, and he's $274,356 richer because of it!
According to California Lottery officials, Palmer figured he'd buy a bottle of water and a Mega Millions ticket at the Marin County Chevron station while waiting for an empty gas pump. Palmer matched five out of six Mega Millions winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball number, for the Friday, April 20th drawing. That winning ticket was the lucky one, making him one of two second-tier California lottery winners that evening. Would you have waited that long?
The second California lottery winner purchased their ticket at Quik Stop #7085, 339 Williams Road in Salinas. No one has claimed the prize at this time.

Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn Tuesday and Friday evenings at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets are sold in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
