A Philadelphia man finds himself missing after he sees himself on a missing person's website. The 35-year-old was adopted as a child and never had an inkling that anything was off or wrong.
One day, Steven Carter, was browsing a website focused on missing children and he stumbled upon an age-progressed photo that very much resembled himself.
Carter's biological mother had a habit of disappearing, but always returned within a few weeks. Then, one time, she simply did not return. It appears that she gave authorities the wrong name for herself and baby Carter. She also gave his birthdate, one day off. This led to him being placed in foster care until he was adopted about three years later after they failed to find his father due to the false information.
Carter went to the police who did an investigation to determine that he was indeed the missing boy. He has since located his father, but his mother was never heard from again.
"The mother has never resurfaced. The father lives in California, and Steven has talked to his father and his half-sister, whose name is Jenny. He has two other half-sisters who live with his father's ex-wife," says Carter's adoptive mother, Victoria Carter.
When a man finds himself missing is not a headline we see everyday. Thankfully, this is a rare occurrence, but it definitely makes for an interesting story and a relatively happy outcome is always a nice conclusion.

Strange tale. Sad, but okay. Poor mother. The mentally ill are no one's constituency. The Lost Ones.
