The Lauren Spierer case has its first definitive case update in just about the near-year it's lasted. Even though police have denied theories made here on Gather News about a potential serial killer being involved, they are now reconsidering that possibility with a man already in custody. Nonetheless, the private investigator hired by the Spierers said on Judge Janine Pirro's program last night that he personally doesn't believe that Lauren's case is going to end with this guy.
His name is William Clyde Gibson and he's a suspected serial killer who has been connected with the deaths of at least two women, including 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk. Though all of his victims appear to be over the ages of 30, police appear to feel that there may be a connection between him and Lauren Spierer.
What leads detectives to consider a possible connection after nearly a year of the Bloomington college student's disappearance? Could there be some sort of evidence tying him to Bloomington around the time of her disappearance? Could his vehicle be the elusive white truck seen in this disturbing set of enhanced photos?
