The world's rarest gorilla was seen on a video that was captured in Cameroon. The rare animal is known as the Cross River gorilla. Unfortunately, the footage is just a few minutes long, but it provides a beautiful look into the creatures' lives.
The video is from the Wildlife Conservation Society, and it was captured in Cameroon's Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary. Unfortunately, there are less than 250 Cross River gorillas living in the world today, which is what makes them the world's rarest gorilla group.
WCS president and CEO Steve Sanderson said, "This video gives us all a spectacular view into the hidden world of one of our closest relatives, which is in dire need of our help to survive."
Hopefully this new video will inspire people to help these gorillas, so that they may begin to thrive again. In the footage, the creatures are interacting normally with their environment, which is part of what makes the video so stunning. These gorillas are rarely filmed because they shy away from humans.
Have you seen the video of the world's rarest gorilla? If not, you are in for a treat. Check it out in the video below. Have you ever seen anything like it? Chances are you haven't because this footage is basically the first of its kind.
