Dog Custody Battle: Man Spends $60,000 Suing...

How far would you go to for your dog? Would you spend $60,000, draining all your resources and savings to do so? Craig Dershowitz from Brooklyn, NY is showing just what lengths he will go to in order to save his best friend. (Or, to get him back, rather--the animal is not in any sort of danger.) He is suing his ex-girlfriend for custody of Knuckles, a little puggle the two shared when they were still together. He is accusing Sarah Brega of kidnapping said puggle and taking him to California with her while Dershowitz was looking for another place to live. Is this man doing it for revenge and attention, or does it only show a sweet devotion to Knuckles?

Of course, it's difficult to know in any he-said-she-said situation. There is no doubt that this man is taking it to the extreme. Why go public and appear on the Today show? And here's another question: If he is willing to pay $60,000, why wouldn't he just fly over to California and confront his ex-girlfriend? Apparently the two haven't spoken since the break-up, and Brega is just as dedicated to Knuckles as Dershowitz is. She said, "[Knuckles has] been with me his whole life. It is unfortunate that (Craig) is using the courts and a fraudulent fundraiser to continue to harass me. He is taking advantage of unsuspecting donors, thrives on media attention and he is seeking it out in order to further his career while exacting revenge." It's true: Dershowitz is now asking people for help with his finances in an online video plea--all for the sake of getting Knuckles back.

Dershowitz insinuates that his ex knows about his finances because they dated for a few years, and is "forcing him to exhaust his limited resources." He said on the Today show that the whole situation really embarrassing for him. Well, of course it's embarrassing. This man is making himself look like an idiot. Many people do love their pets as much as they would children, but the fact that he hasn't tried to physically go and get the dog back himself shows he is doing it as much for attention as he is to try to make his ex look bad and get a bit of revenge.
