Kristen Stewart has reportedly expressed interest in starring in the film version of steamy bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey, and there is a lot of speculation about who will ultimately get the two main roles. In a recent interview for MTV, Kristen read a portion of the book aloud. Was she trying to audition for the role of Anastasia Steele, who is inducted into the world of BDSM by her sexual mentor Christian Grey?
If she was trying to catch the eye of the casting honchos for the film, she probably didn't make the right impression. She laughed the whole way through it and turned fifty shades of red before exclaiming, "I can't believe I'm doing this."
Fortunately, it wasn't really an audition; it was interviewer Josh Horowitz's idea to catch stars on tape reading salacious portions of the controversial book. Other stars to narrate the book included Ellen DeGeneres and a practically screaming Gilbert Gottfried. Hopefully, the DeGeneres and Gottfried team aren't really in the running for the roles.
It will still be a while before Fifty Shades of Grey fans finally know who will represent the sadomasochistic pair on the big screen. In the meantime, it's fun to imagine the possibilities. A Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson or Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev coupling are just as much contenders as anyone else.
