A grieving pit bull stayed by his dead mate for 14 hours, and he is still so sad that he cannot be placed for adoption. What a sad story for this dog, and his devotion has captured the hearts of people throughout the world.
Unfortunately, a female pit bull was hit and killed by a car, and her mate refused to leave her for more than half a day. Eventually, Animal Control removed her body, so the grieving pit bull could no longer stay beside her, but he is still horribly depressed.
People were so worried about the male that they actually put out water and food for him as he grieved by his lost mate. It is possible that these dogs have an owner, but so far nobody has claimed the male, which cannot help him in getting over his sadness over the loss of his female companion. Rodrigo Silva of Animal Care and Control said, "If he continues to show these signs of withdrawal we will place him in a recovery home that can help him with his grieving. I am not certain we will be placing him up for adoption."
Hopefully somebody will be able to help this grieving pit bull. His story is so sad. To lose his mate and stay beside her for 14 hours, and then to have no home to go to is just heartbreaking.
