Sierra LaMar suspect Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, will appear on Thursday at noon at the Hall of Justice in San Jose for arraignment. The San Martin resident and Safeway grocery store employee is facing a criminal charge for the murder of the missing 15-year-old Morgan Hill teen last seen on her way to the school bus stop.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office made the planned murder charge announcement today, according to Mercury News.
This should go a long way in convincing Sierra LaMar's mother that it isn't just police who believe her precious daughter is no longer alive.
Sheriff Laurie Smith's insisted on Wednesday that law enforcement feels a murder of the young woman has occurred despite a lack of blood or body evidence at this point in the case.
And it now appears the DA's office is in agreement as well, moving forward in the criminal complaint to include action to prosecute the Sierra LaMar suspect for murder.
The suspect is currently being held in the Santa Clara County Main Jail without bail. And it is unknown who is representing the defendant at this time, or if he will plead not guilty. It is unlikely he would be granted bail, however, given the gravity of the crime and the possibility of additional dangers that may exist to society.
And who could honestly say they would want him coming home to their neighborhood, or riding around in his VW Jetta if they had a young daughter in the home? Certainly not anyone in Morgan Hill, right?
