North Korea has been a thorn in the side of foreign policymakers in the United States due to the country's nuclear ambitions. Then despotic leader Kim Jong Il died in December and one of his sons took over. The explosive situation on the Korean Peninsula may have just ignited even further.
There is a new report that the U.S. military has infiltrated the combative nation on several occasions. The Diplomat, a foreign policy magazine, quoted Brig. Gen. Neil Tolley when he spoke of the need for special forces to parachute into the communist nation. He explained there are networks of tunnels that no one can see normally.
"The entire tunnel infrastructure is hidden from our satellites. So we send [Republic of Korea] soldiers and U.S. soldiers to the North to do special reconnaissance," Tolley told The Diplomat.
A few common sense questions need further discussion among U.S. lawmakers. Why is the U.S. military admitting this now? Do they feel the threat of North Korea has gone away? What of Kim Jong Un's despotic leadership--will this new admission make his country even more brazen?
There are several issues surrounding this new international incident. The north tried to launch a long-range missile that failed miserably. Perhaps American commanders feel the country is no longer a threat. Plus the country doesn't have many resources that can benefit armed military action.
This admission by the armed forces sends a clear message. There are no threats to American democracy in Asia. Maybe the military needs to look to Iran for its next threat to peace.

Secret tunnels would not surprise me... I've heard people go in and out of there.
