Diane Tran's story rocked the nation last week after a judge decided she deserved to serve jail time for missing more than ten days of school. In the state of Texas, a student who misses more than ten days is considered truant and faces harsh punishment. Judge Lanny Moriarty thinks Diane should be used as an example to other students who miss school. The lunatic judge totally ignored the fact that the girl is an honor student, taking dual credit classes. She is an example already.
Now, a petition has been started in the hopes the asinine judge will overturn the ridiculous ruling. One of Diane's friends started the petition citing, "The state of Texas is sentencing a young girl to a night of jail for being too emotionally and physically exhausted to go to school." Diane is a girl fighting to survive without the benefit of loving parents. She is working her tail off to make sure she does not become a burden to society, and she is being rewarded with a criminal record.
As if the jail sentence was not enough, the heartless judge threw in a $100 fine for the girl who is working two jobs to support herself and her two siblings while going to school full time. Way to stick it to the girl, Judge Moriarty.
So far, the petition has gained nearly 65,000 signatures. The petition also includes a place for people to donate money to an account established by the Louisiana Children's Education Alliance, which has already amassed more than $50,000 in donations for Diane Tran and her family. According to the website, 100 percent of all donations will go to Diane.

Would the police stop a speeding car carrying a woman in labor on the way to the hospital and give a ticket or escort the car as fast as he can to get to the hospital? It is all about human understanding and compassion!
