During a search of the Etan Patz suspect's home on Wednesday, New York cops found several items they believe will link him to the presumed dead child. So this Etan Patz case update is a very welcome one for the child's parents.
And it is just in the nick of time for the case, as they needed something to prove Pedro Hernandez's confession was legitimate and worthy of his prosecution.
And that's really a shame when you think about it. A signed confession should be enough in a court of law.
Police probably wouldn't be able to find the deceased child's body now anyway, after all these years, especially with no one knowing what really happened to it, including the killer, allegedly.
And that would surely complicate the case's success possibility if they couldn't, even in light of his confession of guilt.
And his parents need this case to be successfully concluded after all this time, making this Etan Patz case update some of the best news they've had this year, undoubtedly.
Let's just hope that the DNA on the clothing is that of Etan Patz, and not another child victim, which would make Pedro Hernandez even more like John Wayne Gacy, the Chicago, Illinois sexual predator who murdered a lot of boys.![]()
NYPD's findings during Wednesday's search of Hernandez's home, as reported by the NY Post, will now help police finally tie the former Bodega worker to the child, thankfully.
They can use the boy's clothing and toy to prove his confession has merit. And WIBW reports that once the DNA testing is complete they can finally move forward in this 33-year-old case, even if he does have an alleged mental illness.

All of that adds up to legitimate circumstantial evidence that would now be a strong link for police in a crime committed today. Top that with a confession...and others saying he had confessed to them...and no other killer ever being found...and....you get the point.
