The search for Mickey Shunick isn't over, but the discovery of a woman's torso has put people on edge in Louisiana for good reason. The body washed ashore a beach in Mississippi, so it may not even be related to the young woman's disappearance. Nonetheless, there is the strong possibility it could be the missing anthropology student or another young woman who is missing from New Orleans, Jaren Lockhart.
As it stands, there aren't any active missing women's cases in the state of Mississippi, but the state does in fact border Louisiana making it a worrisome moment for people who are searching for the missing women. The family of Jaren Lockhart are on edge in particular, but there haven't appeared to be any statements released by the family of Mickey Shunick, who has been missing for almost a month.
Sources say the body was dismembered and decapitated before it was dumped. This must be made apparent by the appearance of the torso. It certainly wouldn't be the first dismembered body to wash ashore in the South, and it's just unsettling that this is going on in a time when two women are missing.
