The murder of Jaren Lockhart is in full investigation mode as officials are seeking the weapon (or weapons) used to murder and dismember the New Orleans stripper. This case is disturbing and certainly a heartbreaking example of the tragedy that can befall a young, promising and beautiful person. Will there be justice at the conclusion of this investigation?
Not long after the stabbed and dismembered torso of Jaren Lockhart washed ashore in Mississippi, Margaret Sanchez and Terry Christopher Speaks were apprehended. Surveillance footage put the two with the missing stripper in Mississippi shortly before her remains washed ashore, however, they were arrested back in Louisiana. Terry Christopher Speaks is being extradited to North Carolina where he is a registered sex offender who absconded. On the other hand, Margaret Sanchez isn't being extradited and isn't apparently cooperating with the investigation.
Officials are seeking a hunting knife believed to have been used to murder and dismember the 22-year-old mother. Forensic evidence led investigators to the conclusion that a hunting knife was used to stab, decapitate and dismember Jaren, but it's not known if the suspects have mentioned any knives or other weapons used in the crime.
So where could they look? Well, it's probably a no-brainer that the suspects disposed of the knife, distancing themselves as far away from it as possible -- but where? Did they toss it into the ocean like they did the remains of Jaren Lockhart? Did they give the knife away to someone they knew? Did they toss it in a dumpster somewhere in Mississippi? Perhaps they pawned it -- although that possibility is unlikely. Investigators certainly have their work cut out for them in this search.
