Pet Piranha Bites Baby's Finger Off

What were these parents thinking? Well, maybe they weren't thinking! A pet piranha the family kept in an aquarium bit off their 18-month-old daughter's finger. But wait, it gets better! The parents didn't have just a piranha, they had two piranhas. And a pitbull. All of them were accessible by a baby who didn't know any better.

You can't just say this is a "learning experience" for these parents. It was plain neglect and idiotic thinking on their parts. Really. What kind of people keep animals that are so vicious, a small group can eat a cow down to the bones in a matter of minutes.

Just think what could have happened had this little toddler fallen into the tank and not just stuck her finger into it. The parents need to understand that little babies do not mix with dangerous animals, and it's shudder-inducing to think that grown adults have to be told this!

And the kicker is, the dad originally thought that the family's pet pit bull was the finger snatcher. They only found out it was the pet piranha after the dad cut open both fish and found the fingertip inside one of them. The parents aren't facing any charges, but you can bet your boots they'll probably re-think their parenting technique.

The little girl's finger was surgically reattached, but whether the surgery was successful remains to be seen.
