Mickey Shunick Murdered, Man Arrested

Mickey Shunick was kidnapped and murdered according to the arrest information regarding the latest update in her case. A man by the name of Brandon Scott Lavergne, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested just hours ago. The St. Landry Parish man is also the owner of a white Chevy Z-71Â—not a coincidence at all, it seems.

This is a heartbreaking update in the case of this high profile missing woman, but at least the wheels of justice are now beginning to turn. Police have said nothing about the remains of the missing Anthropology major, but they have charged Brandon Scott Lavergne with kidnapping and murder associated with her disappearance.

Since he is a sex offender, he will probably not be released from jail and more than likely be put in protective segregation.

correct information: Lafayette police will hold a press conference today at 1pm on major developments in the Mickey Shunick case. Authorities arrested 33 year old Brandon Scott Lavergne. He has been charged with first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and failure to register as a sex offender. Because first degree murder is a captial offense that can carry the death penalty, no bond has been set.

In Louisiana First Degree Murder includes Aggravated Kidnapping! Please keep sending positive energy out to Mickey for us to bring her home, there is no evidence that she is dead.

The police on the case have blatantly said she was murdered and that they have the evidence.

Yeah, because he's charged with first-degree murder BUT that includes aggravated kidnapping so they were able to charge him with both. Would her family still be looking for her if it was a fact that she was murdered? If you had listened to the actual police press conference, you would realize that. Please stop spreading rumors.

I do not think you comprehended the charges.

I am not arguing with you about it, either. Any further comments about it will be deleted as you are obviously confused and I do not want the confusion clouding the coverage of the case. It is simply not in my interest to educate you on what's going on. I have done far more than watch the press conference. Again, I am sorry you are so confused, but I am not and I do not want my readers to be either.
