The search for Lynn Jackenheimer has been "suspended indefinitely," which indicates that investigators are becoming more accepting of the possibility that she was murdered by her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Nate Summerfield. Summerfield is also still missing after he was last seen by his brother, dropping off Lynn's two children while admitting to strangling the missing woman. The suspension of the searches for these two individuals must be disappointing to their friends and family members, but the investigation is continuing to uncover what may have happened.
First officials in Ashland, Ohio suspended their search while North Carolina investigators took to air, water and land searches for the 33-year-old woman and her abusive lover. Now North Carolina officials have halted their search with the latest updates in the case coming out of Richmond, Virginia. As speculated in earlier Gather News posts about this case, Lynn Jackenheimer could truly be anywhere at this point, and it's positive to see the case going in the direction it is traveling. Lynn was allegedly last seen in Richmond just before her disappearance, so it's likely that this is the region in which her remains are located.
Jackenheimer's stepfather relayed information that Summerfield had given his brother. Not only did he admit to strangling the missing woman, he claimed to have discarded her body on the side of a road under some brush. This is absolutely horrifying, and judging by how specific the confession was, Summerfield was most likely telling the truth. Hopefully they find this man, but it's likely he killed himself as it seemed he was interested in getting the children to safety before vanishing. This behavior seems sporadic as if the crime was committed in the heat of a moment. However, it also seems like he may have plotted the attack because he goaded the woman into going on vacation with him in the first place. Who knows, but this is just tragic and the family must be inconsolable at this time. Hopefully some positive news does come out in the future even if the searches are indefinitely suspended.
