U.S. Marines 'Call Me Maybe' Video Shows Troops' Light-Hearted Sides

The U.S. Marines "Call Me Maybe" video parody has caught the attention of the nation. The soldiers are stationed at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. The USO organized the group lip-dub to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" hit (yes, that's the song you absolutely cannot get out of your head).

The U.S. Marines video of "Call Me Maybe" showed the group's light-hearted, positive side. They have a tough job, and it can get monotonous, and oftentimes all the public hears are the negative stories about what happens and what mistakes are made.

The project's mastermind Eric Raum said, "It's a side of the military that you don't get to see. Showing the human side on the other side of the rifles is a great opportunity."

Sometimes it is easy to forget that every man and woman in the military is a person much like every other person in the U.S. The only difference is, they have chosen to serve their country and follow their leaders' commands. Amazingly, the video was created in only an hour.

The USO organizers had to present the idea, get cooperation from the troops, teach the dance moves, and film the entire thing in 60 short minutes. The result is nothing short of amazing especially considering the time constraint.

The good news is that the Marine troops really got into making the video and they enjoyed it. It seems like the dancing and silliness was a nice break from the regular routine on the Afghanistan base. Plus, singing such a catchy hit had to be a reminder of back home.
