Iowa authorities are now classifying the two missing cousins, Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, as abducted. The girls have been AWOL since last Friday, when they went for a bike ride near Meyers Lake, near Evansdale. Their bikes and a purse were found in the area of the lake where the parents of the girls say a trap could have been executed.
Parents have been made to feel like suspects, with relatives acknowledging that the couple's troubled past could have been a factor in the girls' disappearance, with both of Lyrics' parents having been convicted of felony drug offences and spent time in prison. It is, however, wished by the family that more time is spent focused on the girls and less on the criminal past of their parents.
These poor little girls have been missing for nearly a week. The lake has been draining just to rule out any possibility that they will be found in the water. Where are they? Did someone from their parents' past come back to exact revenge? Often drug transgressions come back to bite you later. Those parents need to think of all the people they ever screwed over, if they want to find the little girls. Random people in rural areas like this don't show up to snatch children. In small communities, there is more likely to be someone watching. It's likely someone they know.
There is a $50,000 reward being offered for information leading to the girls' whereabouts.
