Anisa Swearingen: Body of Missing Woman Found...

The body of Anisa Swearingen,18, was located in a storage unit in Portland after she had been missing for several days before the manager of Money Saver Mini Storage called to report a "foul odor" coming from one of the units. The unit ended up being the resting place of the remains of the missing 18-year-old woman. She was identified by the tattoos of musical notes and the name "Shiloh" on her body. What brought on the disappearance and demise of the young woman?

This source says that the cause of death is so far unknown, but that Anisa Swearingen was decomposing in the mini storage unit in which she was found. She was known for struggling with drug addictions and was even facing charges of meth possession. She was also facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm as well as tampering with evidence. The indication of her criminal lifestyle may make it difficult to investigate what happened to her. Police aren't necessarily referring to her death as one related to foul play, but it doesn't seem likely that she put herself in the mini storage unit.

Hopefully more information comes out about this tragic case and whoever is responsible is brought to justice. While it's easy to turn a blind eye to the downfall of individuals who live lifestyles of crime and drug addiction, victims of homicide should always see justice, even if it's after their deaths.

I'm wondering how her or anyone's "criminal lifestyle" would make it difficult to investigate a potential homicide?

It's no secret that sometimes law enforcement pushes victims of homicide to the backburner if they're part of less-than-savory activities. Hopefully that's not the case with this, because, as stated, no victim should fall behind because of their lifestyles.

A good friend of mine is the Manager of the facility where this discovery was made. He was the one that found it and called Police in. Almost 2 weeks later still no charges against anyone. He tells me that they knew who the renter was before Anisa was even identified and yet nothing about this person has been relaeased by the police or investagators. What gives? Are we just supposed to sweep this under the rug?

If she had been found in the basement of a rented house, you could make book that whomever had the keys to that front door would be all over the news and probably under arrest. I am even more surprised that if someone has not been picked up for the murder, that there hasn't been an arrest for just putting a body in to storage. You would think that would at least be against the law. Personally I am about to get involved in just a call to some kind of action. I think we all have a right to expect more from the authorties and should let them know when they let us down. I know "that's the way it is"...but it shouldn't be and we should demand that it stop.

Shame on them if they do so! If that is the case with any case regardless the circumstances, then I say they need to find a new line of work because obviously they've lost sight of what it is they do and why!

You should look up how horrific the police were in the robert pickton case. they allowed him to kill woman after woman simply because "they're just hookers" (that's what one cop said!)

Unfortunately it seems to be a nation wide occurrence. It's sickening and disheartening that the men and women we are suppose to turn to for help and trust in, have turned cold-hearted and put blinders on. I am not saying all law enforcement are like this, but too often we hear of stories like this. Get out of the field if you know you are so desensitized!
