Not 24 hours after the Colorado shooting occurred, Playboy model Tricia Evans showed just how insensitive and callous she really is. Her original tweet, "I heard the new Batman movie is really to die for! Too soon?" inspired rage across the Internet, raining criticism and even death threats to her Twitter account.
After one of her followers—Canadian DJ Deadmau5—called her out on her cold-hearted joke, it began to circulate. Three days later, the issue is still roiling, and the Barbie doll wanna-be refuses to stand down. Her pseudo apology came with a statement that people take things "way too serious," and should just chill out.
Since then, she has gained more followers and supporters, and she is now focusing her attacks on the parents who took their children to the midnight screening.
Really? This woman who is clearly capitalizing on the deaths of 12 people thinks it's perfectly fine to criticize people who have been horribly traumatized?
Just hours ago, one person addressed a tweet to her, "Playboy should drop your a**!! They should be embarrassed.WOW I live in Colo. Karma is a b***h!" Her reply was "U should get a life. Too many of u people out there need a healthy dose of Valium."
James Holmes killed a dozen people early on Friday morning. All of them innocent. None of them deserved to die. The pregnant mother of the 6-year-old girl who was killed remains in the hospital with wounds to the abdomen, and it's unclear if her baby will survive. And Evans is criticizing the victims for taking their kids to a midnight movie premiere.
Fathers, mothers, relatives and friends are suddenly feeling a deep and abiding emptiness because a madman took a full arsenal of weapons into a theater wearing full armor and shot their loved ones. And this twit thinks the three men who jumped in front of their girlfriends to save their lives should have tried to jump Holmes in a dark, smoky, gas-filled theater instead?
It's obvious Ms. Evans has no clue about this. Even Bill Bratton, former Police Chief of Los Angeles, New York, and Boston, has said that trying to bring down someone with that much ammunition and armor in that particular situation would be very difficult. It's easy for people to say, "Why didn't someone rush him?" The guy was armed to the hilt, and initially people thought there was more than one person. The Colorado shooting in Aurora is a unique case, and even federal authorities seem surprised at how Holmes was able to conceive and follow through with it.
While Tricia Evans has every right to speak what is on her addled little mind, others are free to tell her what they think of it.
