For all the sweet tooths in the world, this might just be too much to handle. A 7,003-pound giant lollipop has understandably been named the world's largest lollipop and nabbed the Guinness World Record. And why is this lollipop so enormous?
See's Candies of California has created the huge yummy-looking, chocolate- flavored lollipop to commemorate National Lollipop Day, which was July 20. Who knew there was even a National Lollipop Day? It has been on display at Justin Herman Plaza in San Fransisco since its début and CEO Brad Kinstler explains that this feat has shown just what a great company See's Candies really is.
"We are so pleased to have created a larger than life version of our favorite candy-on-a-stick."
Amazingly, the monster-sized lollipop contains the exact ingredients as the normal-sized ones, just a whole lot more of it. The world's largest lollipop received its Guinness World Record declaration on July 18 at the See's Factory in Burlingame, California and smeared the previous record holders: Jolly Rancher with a 4,016-pound candy and Ashrita Furman with a 6,514-pound candy.
After the Giants vs. Dodgers game at AT&T Park on July 29, where the large lollipop will be on display for more candy lovers to admire, the huge creation will be recycled. Recycled into what? That is the question.
