Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and Elizabeth Collins, 9, cousins from Evansdale, Iowa, have caught the attention of NASCAR. Teammate drivers Landon Cassill and Travis Kvapil will have pictures of the girls on their car tomorrow, along with the phone number for the National Missing Children's hotline. That's an amazing way to get word out!
The girls were last seen on July 13th, leaving their grandmother's house to go on a bike ride. Their bikes were found later that same afternoon, near Meyers Lake.
Cassill, himself, is from nearby Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He said, "Being from Iowa, and having some other folks in the sport from Iowa, we're all pulling together to raise as much attention as possible to help locate the two missing girls. 'I really want to do as much as possible and this is one step. I can't thank the team enough for doing this."
Will this really have any effect on bringing the girls home? On the other hand, many people in the area are big NASCAR fans and would maybe be convinced to return them...by their favorite driver asking them to? If nothing else, this will bring more national attention to the fact that the girls are missing. Maybe it really will help find them. Who knows?
