Gun control is back on the menu for liberal doctors as some are attempting to turn the right to keep and bear arms into a health care issue. And under the guise of health care, those who oppose Americans' second amendment rights are attempting to limit their ability to posses guns. One of America's leading experts on limiting guns in America, Dr. Stephen Hargarten of the Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, recently stated that "We have a public health issue to discuss. Do we wait for the next outbreak or is there something we can do to prevent it."
And like most liberals who do not believe in the rights protected in the Constitution, the "something" that can be done to prevent it is to limit Americans' exercise of their rights. Hargarten has been a leading advocate of limiting all types of weapons since his establishment of the Firearms Injury Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, a center that was paid for by many firearm-owning taxpayers through a federal grant.
With the passage of the ObamaCare legislation, many feared it would allow the government to intrude into every aspect of Americans' lives through the guise of health care. And many point to comments from Daniel Webster, co-director of the anti-firearm John Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research, who stated "Gun ownership—a precursor to gun violence—can spread 'much like an infectious disease..." as examples of health care professionals attempting to interfere with the constitutional rights of Americans.
If the violence currently plaguing the nation, such as the hundreds that are injured every week in Chicago and other large democratically controlled cities, are to be linked to health care, many fear that the President, under the auspices of ObamaCare, can then make Executive Orders that will intercede the rights protected under the Constitution. After all, the Constitution protects the right to the free exercise of religion, but through a single order that Constitutional right was bypassed when the government mandated religious institutions must provide birth control, despite the fact that their central beliefs prohibited such activities. Does anyone think that another such order by the federal government may not be soon to come in a second Obama term?
Liberal Democrats, some say undercover Socialists, seem to be attempting to impose their view of society on the rest of America. Religious traditions, hundreds of years old and the cornerstone of American freedom, are discarded as unwanted garbage. Those who dare to oppose such tyrannical activities fear finding themselves at the wrong end of a government-sponsored tax or legal case that will leave them devastated. And when asked about their un-American activities, those in power simply ignore the premise that they are acting in ways that are contrary to American tradition and Constitutional authority.
This attempt to link gun control to health care is only the latest by liberals to force all Americans to obey what they think is best for the nation. And once again they are attempting to use the health care system to do it. After successfully destroying a number of religious beliefs, they are now aiming at the rights of Americans to protect themselves from those who would take away those rights. Americans who own weapons can resist these types of executive orders and tyrannical declarations. Maybe this is why guns are back on the menu for liberals and Democrats.
