A security officer for the Family Research Council was shot at the group's headquarters in Washington, DC Wednesday, but thankfully the crazed gunman is now in custody.
The guard was still breathing when he was transported to the hospital, but there is scant information about a second victim, who was also shot. Before the end of the day, the public will know more about the incident, including the suspect's name, and the motive for the attack.
Now, if this tragedy had occurred at a liberal think tank, such as the Center for American Progress, the media would have already been blaming the Tea Party. But, because the attack happened at the conservative FRC, which is connected to James Dobson's Focus on the Family, liberal journalists will withhold judgement until the facts are in.
The Southern Poverty Law Center tagged the Family Research Council as a "hate group" two years ago, due to its opposition to gay marriage and abortion. Was the gunman motivated by political animosity? Or, was this simply a case of random, or workplace, violence?
The Family Research Council shooting took place just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, and is now being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The truth here is that most people will never know true hate because once we understand that it is the opposite of true love, we immediately know what a rare thing it is. Many people spend an entire life searching for a genuine, true love and die never finding it.
True hate is no different.
When applied by the political, to the political, in any sense at all, we either have to conjure a fellow human being that really hates someone over something as shallow as partisan politics, or we know in our hearts without doubt that the use of this word in the gladiatorial arena of polarization, means absolutely... zilch.
They say it so it must be so?
What the heck is going on in this country when an overtly Christian group is a "hate group" because they support the traditional family?
We are truly becoming Bizarro World.
