Fifty-year-old Rebecca Weiss was discovered dead in the water near her favored diving spot over the weekend. She was clad in her wetsuit as to be expected, but her death seems suspicious to her mother—who says her husband was having an affair and wouldn't help search for her. Well, now the autopsy has been completed in the death of this woman, but the coroner will not release the cause of death. Why?
The coroner says that the details of the autopsy will not be released to the public "pending the results of a police investigation." It doesn't seem likely that an accidental death, i.e. drowning, would garner this type of response from a coroner. In fact, it would be much expected for this woman to have died by an accidental drowning due to the fact that she was "free diving" which requires one to use their ability to hold breath as a measurement for diving depth. This is a rather extreme sport and for a woman of 50 years old it can be dangerous.
So what kind of police investigation could pertain to the death of Rebecca Weiss? Maybe there are some nefarious details that need ironing out before this could be considered an accident? If so, her husband may want to consider explaining why he didn't go looking for her, and maybe answer to the allegations made by his mother-in-law that he had a girlfriend on-the-side.
