The stepfather of 15-year-old sophomore who fired on a fellow student at Perry Hall High School Monday has been arrested on drug and weapons charges. Andrew Piper, 43, has been taken into custody for possession of illegal firearms and marijuana charges; charges which resulted in a visit from police to Piper's home stemming from the shooting incident. Apparently, Piper had no time to hide his illegal guns or drugs, or he just didn't bother.
Robert Wayne Gladden was arrested yesterday by a school resource officer after he shot a fellow classmate, 17-year-old Daniel Borowy, in the back in the school's cafeteria with a shotgun. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault and will be tried as an adult. Although the police are saying that the two incidents aren't related, the fact that his stepfather, Andrew Piper had illegal weapons in his house certainly could have been a contributing factor to the teen's behavior, not to mention the illegal drug use.
Police say Piper's charges are not related to the shooting. The weapon used in that incident came from the home of Gladden's father, Robert Gladden Sr. The older Gladden said that his son was being bullied at school.
