On the eleventh anniversary of the World Trade Center 9/11 terrorist attack, many people are wondering what will go up at Ground zero where the Twin Towers used to stand. The plans for the new building are finally taking shape. Many people are saying, "Finally!" Several large buildings will stand where the Twin Towers used to; the most prominent structure, called 1 WTC , will be completed in 2014, and will be "the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere." Another building, 7 WTC, is already finished and has been completely leased out to tenants.

Some people are wondering: Why has it taken them so long to put something else up? Well, in a way, New York City's Ground Zero is hallowed ground. It's more than understandable that they didn't want to rush into any plans. Just a couple of years ago there were discussions about an Islamic mosque being built at the site, which was, for obvious reasons, highly controversial. The Twin Towers were an important part of NYC's iconic skyline for so many years, so it's difficult for people to let that go.
So, who will be using New York's new tallest building? Reports say that media company Condé Nast will take up about a third of the building, as well as a federal agency and a company which acts as the liaison for Chinese and U.S. businesses. What do you think about the plans for NYC's new World Trade Center? Do you think building such a tall building is too ostentatious, or is it appropriate?
