The divorced woman, known for her easy smile and devotion to her son, is asthmatic and wasn't feeling well the last morning she was seen at her job at Connextions Recruiting in Concord, N.C.
Soon after arriving, she said she was going home for the day and asked a trusted family friend for a ride. When he showed up, Prentice had already left. That's when circumstances became truly mysterious.
Witnesses have stated that they last saw Crystal Prentice walking down a side road near Interstate 85. Why would she leave before her friend came to pick her up? Where was she going?
Friends have stated the single mother never missed her son's first day of school. For the boy, that was the following Monday, when he started the third grade.
The family and police are at a loss as to further details, but feel certain she would never have willingly walked away from her family. So, what happened to her?
