Kidnapped teen Ailene Lander was recovered by FBI agents in Cincinnati on Saturday, and it's all thanks to an Ohio woman who followed her gut feeling. A woman allowed the abducted teen, her mother, stepfather and five siblings stay in her home on Friday, but started to get suspicious -- though it isn't reported on what behavior, if any, piqued her concern. She called police on the family, and now the 15-year-old girl is safe and her kidnappers behind bars.
This brings an end to a search that has lasted for nearly a week. Not all abduction stories end on such a positive note, but Ailene Lander was fortunate. It would be interesting to find out the details behind her abduction. She was in DHR custody in Alabama before her stepfather and mother abducted her from a doctor's appointment she was fulfilling. Multiple reports indicate that she wasn't stressed when sighted with her family, but it's been reported that she's pregnant and in medical danger.
Hopefully more details will surface about this case and it's not just swept under the rug. This may seem like a positive ending, but for some reason it feels like it's just the beginning. Why isn't this girl allowed to be with her parents, while the other five children are? That's the biggest question in all of this.
