What Happened to Jessica Ridgeway?

Ten-year-old Jessica Ridgeway was last seen Friday around 107th Ave., and Moore Street in Westminster, Colorado. The missing child was supposed to walk to school by 8:30 a.m., but never made it to school. There are also conflicting reports saying that the last sighting of the girl took place in the afternoon, so it isn't really known exactly how long this child has been missing.

No Amber Alert has been issued in the case of this missing child -- most likely because she doesn't fit the criteria of an Amber Alert. No vehicles have been reported sighted, nor are there any bits of evidence indicating that she's been forcefully abducted. However, with her missing several hours it's hard to feel good about this disappearance.

What happened to 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway? Was she abducted by a predator while walking? Could she be staying the night at friends without telling her family? This does happen from time to time, as silly as it seems. One thing is for certain; Jessica is nowhere to be seen and hasn't been heard from in several hours. Hopefully some good news comes of this mysterious disappearance.

I live a few miles from where this girl went missing; a fellow teacher lives in her neighborhood and this neighborhood is next to a giant open space with a dog park where I take my dogs regularly. Just south of this neighborhood is a lake of at least 1,000 acres in size. There has been a TON of information on the internet from the moment this child was reported missing, and I have to say that I am really disappointed and shocked that you would so quickly start to cast blame on the father. The father lives in Missouri and was called immediately to verify his whereabouts and alibi. The girl lives with her mother, an aunt, and her grandmother. The mother WATCHED her walk to school until she was out of sight------ it was a THREE block walk to her school. This neighborhood is a middle class neighborhood of very nice homes, out of my price range as a teacher. This is a horrific incident that has my entire community up in arms. I am planning on joining the search team tomorrow. The open space near this neighborhood is vast; we back up to open spaces that go straight up into the foothills of Colorado and then into the mountains. Our community is an area of very low crime. Again, please check your facts and what info is available before casting blame or throwing questions around about the father or her supervision.

I think you misread the article. I wasn't blaming the father. I was questioning whether or not there has been anyone to watch over child or help in raising her that would know anything about her daily activities leading up to this disappearance; i.e., father, stepfathers, etc etc etc.
