The search for 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway has been unsuccessful and the Westminster, Colorado girl remains missing. She was last seen yesterday morning walking to school, but never made it there. An earlier report here on Gather News states that an Amber Alert wasn't available at the time of her disappearance, but last night at around 10:00 p.m., an alert was issued for the missing child.
This story is still developing and there aren't many details, but Jessica Ridgeway wasn't reported missing for several hours. When she never made it to school on Friday, the facility tried to call her mother—but she was sleeping throughout the day and didn't realize her daughter didn't make it to school until 4:30 in the afternoon. The reason for this being that she works a night shift.
What isn't being mentioned in news reports is whether or not this child has a father in the picture. While the mother works the night shift and sleeps all day, that leaves room for speculation on whether or not the 10-year-old child gets enough supervision or parental guidance when she's not in school. Where is her father in all of this? Does she have any other relatives that help in raising her? What kind of living situation does this girl have? Does she live in a house, apartment or a trailer?
If this child's father isn't in the picture, does her mother have any boyfriends that come around? Statistically speaking, most abductions and crimes on children are committed by someone who is acquainted with the victim in some way. So it's important to take a close look at the home life of this child while exploring the possibility that she was abducted by a stranger while walking to school on Friday morning.
