Drug-Resistant Gonorrhea may be a wake up call for all those out there who partake in one night stands. The fairly common STD is now resistant to all but one medication, sparking fears it's becoming the world's newest superbug.
With germs like MRSA floating around so freely and case increasing by tenfold, it's scary to think that something like Gonorrhea is now becoming resistant too.
A superbug is defined as "any disease organism, a fungus, a virus, bacteria, probably usually means bacteria, that has gotten the ability to defend itself against lots of antibiotics. Not just one or two antibiotics but a number of antibiotics. So that, if it's not actually incurable, it's pretty close."

Basically the only way to stop Gonorrhea from becoming completely resistant is to not contract it. Pretty hard in a world where it seems small a majority of people think it's fine to have one night stands.
If Gonorrhea does become resistant to all drugs then everyone who has it will have to deal with it. Forever because there will be no cure.
Since symptoms include burning and pain while urinating and can go as far as to include fever, rash, and arthritis-like symptoms if the infection gets into the blood stream, it definitely doesn't sound like something you'll want to live with forever.
In fact, Huffington Post is already asking if drug-resistant Gonorrhea is the new AIDS.
That's a scary thought.
What do you think can be done to prevent more diseases from becoming super bugs? Is the world at a point where it's just out of luck when it comes to resistant bacteria?
