Lane Goodwin has gained his angel wings after a long battle with an aggressive form of cancer. The 13-year-old boy won over the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people with his positive and uplifting spirit as he fought for his life against a rare cancer known as Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Lane was diagnosed when he was just 10. His story hits home with so many and sparked the Thumbs Up for Lane movement. No matter how much he was suffering, Lane always pasted on a big smile and put his thumb up, which quickly became his trademark. Celebrities like Anderson Cooper and Rodney Atkins supported Lane and posted thumbs up photos in support of the young boy's fight.
Lane's parents announced the sad news last night, via the Facebook page that started it all; "At 7:53 pm our sweet Lane gained his Angel wings. Our hearts are broken but God has performed a World Wide Miracle through Lane over the past few weeks. Please continue to pray for our family especially Lane's little brother Landen."
His passing is heartbreaking and will leave a gaping hole in the hearts of all those who fell in love with him. His parents are not giving up their fight to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Despite mourning the loss of their son, the family vows to continue the fight with the newly formed, Thumbs Up for Lane Goodwin Childhood Cancer Foundation Inc.
Lane's memory will live on as the foundation works to find a cure for childhood cancer.
