Mega Millions had two (2) big Match 5 + 0 winners for the October 19 drawing. The second-tier Mega Millions winners purchased their winning tickets from the California Lottery and the Ohio Lottery. The Ohio Mega Millions winner will receive a check for $250,000 before taxes. The California lottery winner will get a check for $161,038 instead of the standard $250,000. Why so little? According to the California Lottery, Mega Millions prize amounts in California are pari-mutuel, and will vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners and might differ from the fixed prizes shown on the Mega Millions website. Too bad for that winner!
There were also twenty-two (22) Match 4 + 1 winners that will be receiving checks for $10,000 each. The lottery winners matched four out of five white Mega Millions winning numbers, and the Mega Ball number for the third-tier prize. However, if any of these October 19 Mega Millions winners also purchased the Megaplier option, they may see their prize winnings multiplied by 3 for $30,000 instead! How would you feel if you missed out on a extra $20,000 because you didn't buy a Megaplier ticket?

The next Mega Millions drawing will be held on October 23, 2012 at 11:00 p.m. ET. Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn Tuesday and Friday evenings at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets are sold in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
