Maine Rapper Cam Groves hails from the same town as Alexis Wright, but he's apparently the only person around, who didn't know she was allegedly running a hooker ring out of her Zumba studio.
Groves penned a hip-hop tune about the scandal, titled "I Wish I Knew," which is gaining in popularity on YouTube. This song is very amusing, and it has the potential of becoming the next big Internet meme. How can you not laugh about such a ridiculous story?
The Zumba scandal is the biggest news to come out of Maine since the state was admitted to the Union, so of course everyone there is going to be talking about it. It's perfect fodder for a parody like this.
The racy video was obviously shot on a very low budget, but Groves makes the most out of the picturesque landscape of the Maine shore. Several scenes are filmed on the beach, and others are shot in town.
Groves and Wright are both from Wells, which is about 12 miles from Kennebunkport, where the now-notorious fitness studio is located. In the lyrics, the rapper laments not knowing about Wright's moonlighting gig until after her arrest, saying, "If I had known, I would have been your biggest clientele." Sure, the song is a bit tacky, but it's also hilarious. You can view the clip here.
