Hurricane Sandy is fast approaching and with the potential of power outages across the state of New Jersey, residents are scrambling. After last year's freak ice and snow storm in October, many homes were without power for weeks. This year folks have prepared early and literally purchased every generator in the state.
According to NJ.com, Home Depot in Bloomfield, N.J. parking lot was full of cars struggling to find a spot. Sump pumps, dry wall and cases of water were all hot items that shoppers stacked high in their carts.
Of course there are always the folks who are skeptical about the actual damage this storm will do. This year these folks will be the ones who are floating away. Getting prepared (even if the storm does not hit N.J.) is smart, plain and simple.
According to one store employee, the store got a half a truckload of generators in the morning for customers who prepaid for them yesterday and they are gone. Home Depot is not expecting another shipment.
Jose Rodriguez stated, "We're out of batteries, flashlights. You can't find those anywhere around here."
Between Hurricane Irene and the freak snow storm of 2011, this reaction to the impending Frankenstorm is no over reaction. With the potential power outages and flooding, people are scared. Get ready Hurricane Sandy is coming!
