Accused Dark Knight gunman James Holmes is back in his prison cell, following a "half-hearted" attempt to commit suicide. He was released from the infirmary, after allegedly trying to commit suicide last week by banging his head against the wall.
Something about this alleged suicide try strains credulity. This is a man who is purportedly bright enough to booby-trap his entire apartment, despite having no military training. Yet, he is going to try to kill himself by smashing his skull against a wall? This whole story sounds ridiculous.
While the injuries were severe enough to require medical care, and to prompt a judge to postpone last week's hearing, they obviously weren't life-threatening. Otherwise, the former graduate student at the University of Colorado-Denver would still be receiving medical care.
Did James Holmes fake a suicide attempt to avoid last week's hearing for some reason? Most inmates enjoy court appearances, as they break up the monotony of prison life. Is the accused Batman gunman setting himself up for an insanity defense? What is your opinion about all this?
Holmes is accused of killing 12 moviegoers and wounding 58 others during a Dark Knight screening in Colorado in July. He currently faces 152 counts related to the massacre which stunned the nation.
