Maryland Mega Millions Winner Claims Winning Ticket
Maryland lottery winner Debra Opper of Owings Mills, recently claimed a huge Mega Millions prize. Debra won $250,000 by matching five out of six Mega Millions numbers, but not the Mega Ball number for the Tuesday, December 28 drawing. So why did she take so long to claim her quarter-million dollar prize? She said shortly after she purchased her ticket, she slipped on some snow in the driveway and ended up needing eight stitches on her head. She just got around to checking the Mega Millions winning numbers, and found out she was one of that drawing's lottery winners!
Opper isn't new to winning the lottery. She said she won $10,000 about four years ago, but never dreamed of a six-figure prize. Debra was thrilled with her good fortune, but was having a hard time really believing it was true. "Never did I ever imagine that was going to be me. Now I'm even still sitting here at the lottery office waiting for them to say, 'Haha, it's a joke. Nevermind.'" She told Patch. "I still have goosebumps."
Opper says she and her husband were recently married but hadn't taken a honeymoon yet. Winning the Mega Millions lottery money makes their long-awaited cruise a very real possibility now. Opper purchased her winning lottery ticket at One Stop Convenience in Reisterstown, Maryland. The store will also receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
