IHOP restaurants around the country are readying for National Pancake Day. Happening on February 5, 2013, it's going to be a big day once again. With over 1,500 restaurants expecting to put thousands of free plates of hot buttermilk pancakes on the table for customers, it is an important date on the calendar. Not only is it a free plate of food, but the money donated by patrons is for a good cause that helps the children in America. It's almost too hard to believe that breakfast eaten by thousands at IHOP actually adds up to be a big donation drive.
The stack of hotcakes is always worth the wait as the piping plate of goodness comes to the table in record speed to keep up with the demand of the customers. National Pancake Day usually has people lining the sidewalks so when IHOP starts serving the promotion the restaurant fills up fast.
It will be the eighth year the restaurant will be dishing out pancakes and four million hotcakes are expected to be given away during the breakfast hours. While the food is free, IHOP is hoping the customers reach for the wallets to make a donation. With the primary charity being Children's Miracle Network, the goal is $3 million donated by people eating the free yummy hotcakes.
So what could be better than eating a stack of pancakes for free? Well, the donations that thousands of people make to help the children of the charity. The pancake eating promotion is a perfect way to take part in the 30th anniversary of the Children's Miracle Network.
