The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will return in 2013 for the 137th competition at Madison Square Garden. As the annual tradition of judging the dogs continues to grow, there are some new breeds being introduced to the show when the paws step on the ground at the event on February 11-12 in New York City.
Introducing two new breeds, the Treeing Walker Coonhound, Russell Terrier will debut for the first time during this show. Competing in the events and hoping to place, owners of these uniquely new breeds will have the chance to win prizes in the competition.
As fans from around the world intently watch the dogs be judged, this event is far from small. Hotels around the Madison Square Gardens area have been booked for months and it is one exception of the year when dogs can be found at hotel rooms in Manhattan. With owners coming from around the country to show the pups, it's all business when the canines hit the Big Apple.
While both dogs are extremely cute, they need to bring the drive needed to win at the big show. Looking perfect and understanding commands might be good for any dog with a bone, but to be picked at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, performance is everything. With 187 different breeds and varieties looking to be the top dog, it's going to be a pound fight to the very end.
